Neonatal Hearing Screening (NHS) is a safe and non-invasive programme that identifies hearing loss in newborns as early as possible. Since untreated hearing loss can lead to significant delays in speech and language development, early screening is a critical first step. Babies who receive a “refer” result are guided through further assessment, and those with confirmed hearing loss can begin intervention before 6 months of age — the window where it makes the greatest difference.
