Medicines are used to treat diseases, manage conditions, and relieve symptoms. Medication is given to almost every patient in the hospital and can be the most important part of treatment. Medicines are generally safe when used as prescribed or as directed on the label, but it’s not without risk and occasionally medications can cause harm. Some harm caused by medicines is due to errors that are preventable.

Aligning with World Health Organization (WHO) Global Patient Safety Challenge – Medication Without Harm, the Medication Safety Campaign launched by Penang Adventist Hospital aims to encourage participation of our patients in their medical care, especially in managing their medication by ‘KNOW’ the medication and keep a list, ‘CHECK’ for the correct medication and ‘ASK’ the healthcare provider questions based on 5 Moments for Medication Safety. The hospital is committed to deliver quality care that is safe, effective and focused on patient experience. Together, we play our parts to reduce the risk of medication errors.
