WISHING WELL PROJECT
The Wishing Well Project was started in year 2001 by Penang Adventist Hospital to aid the funds raising for those needed patients.
Imported directly from the United States of America, the Wishing wells range from miniature-size to three-feet in diameter. The wells are the first of its kind in Malaysia and have been donated by Southern Bank Berhad (the first corporate sponsor of The Wishing Well Project), a joint project between Penang Adventist Hospital and the Rotary Club of Penang District 3300.
Y.B. Dr. Loh Hock Hun, represented the Chief Minister of Penang, Y.A.B Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon, at Super Komtar on December 13, 2001 and officially launched the Wishing wells. To-date, the wishing well project has collected over RM400,000 of charity fund with over 40 wishing wells installed state wide.
1ST OFFICIAL LAUNCHING OF THE WISHING WELL PROJECT
Funds raised through The Wishing Well Project will go towards the Gift of Life – Penang Programme, a programme that benefits less fortunate children needing corrective heart surgery. The Gift of Life – Penang Programme is a joint project between Penang Adventist Hospital’s Heart Patients’ Fund and the Rotary Club of Penang.
The Programme has thus far benefitted over 80 children from countries such as Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines. The Heart Patients’ Fund has mended the hearts of over 500 children and adults since its inception in 1988 and disbursed over RM4.7 million (as at October 2011) worth of funds to needy patients.
Southern Bank Berhad (now as CIMB Bank)
Southern Bank Berhad wanted to do something special for a charity of Penang Adventist Hospital. Their sponsorship in the Wishing Well Project has made a big difference in the lives of the less fortunate.
Southern Bank has taken the first step in bringing in the wells to Malaysia. The Wishing Well Project cannot be a success without the support of the public. Please play your part in making a difference in the lives of the less fortunate… and have fun while sharing a little bit of what you have with another in need
