Dr Tang Weng Heng obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Malaya in 2005. He later went on to receive his Master of Clinical Oncology, also awarded by the University of Malaya in 2015.
Dr Tang had worked as a Medical Officer in various clinical departments at Hospital Seberang Jaya. He also had the opportunity to serve as a Medical Officer at the Clinical Oncology Unit of University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) and Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM).
Prior to joining Penang Adventist Hospital, Dr Tang was attached to the Penang Hospital and subsequently Hospital Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru as a Clinical Oncologist and Radiotherapist.
With his vast experience and passion in helping patients, Dr Tang is well-trained to deliver safe and effective oncology treatments, ranging from radiotherapy (VMAT, IMRT and 3D conformal), brachytherapy, cytotoxic chemotherapy, molecular targeted therapy, immunotherapy, endocrine therapy, radioiodine therapy, and palliative care in a multidisciplinary setting.
Apart from having authored several publications in international peer-reviewed journals, Dr Tang has also given presentations at both the international and national levels. He participates actively in research activities and community projects. Among his experience includes being Principal Investigator looking into effectiveness of novel immunotherapy in treatment for nasopharyngeal cancer in collaboration with the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS).
Dr Tang is member of various professional organizations including the Malaysian Oncological Society (MOS), the International Association of Study for Lung Cancer (IASLC), the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
