Dr Teoh Swee Heap received his basic medical training from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He then went on to obtain his postgraduate degree in Anaesthesia & Critical Care, also awarded by the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
He had served as a Medical Officer in Anaesthesia at Penang General Hospital and Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM). Prior to joining Penang Adventist Hospital, Dr Teoh was a General Anaesthetist at the Hospital Seberang Jaya.
He also had the privilege to undergo a short term training in adult and paediatric cardiac anaesthesia at the Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital, India. In addition, Dr Teoh also pursued further training in perioperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) at the West China University Hospital, China.
Dr Teoh was a recipient of the "Anugerah Cemerlang" awarded by the Penang State Health Department in 2009 and again in 2013 for his excellent service. He had also won the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologist Award in 2014 for being the best oral presenter.
