Dr Yong Ee Lin, Lynne

Dr. Lynne Yong is a Clinical Psychologist, and hence DOES NOT prescribe medication. She graduated from Mt. Holyoke College in Massachusetts, USA with High Honors. She then worked at McLean Psychiatric Hospital in Boston for 3 years, coordinating a longitudinal research project in personality disorder and several clinical trials on various psychotropic medications with an interdisciplinary team. Dr. Yong went for her Masters and subsequently Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Rhode Island, U.S.A. She completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A.

Dr Yong returned home to Penang and joined the Department of Psychiatry of Penang General Hospital in late 2004 and Gleneagles Medical Centre (January 2005). Subsequently, she left for her postdoctoral research fellowship in behavioural medicine/health psychology at the University of Connecticut Health Centre, USA. During her fellowship, she passed the state jurisprudence and Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) and became a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of Connecticut, USA (CT Lic. # 002892).

Dr. Yong has worked with a variety of mental health issues such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, dissociative disorders, somatoform disorders, adjustment disorders and some personality disorders. Having worked in several medical facilities, she is also interested in behavioural medicine, especially behavioural interventions for chronic medical problems. She enjoys doing consultation liaison work within a multidisciplinary setting. Additionally, she would like to be more active in international relief work and has been active in trauma counselling and training for government medical personnel.

Dr. Yong conducts cognitive assessments (IQ) of children and adults. She also conducts neuropsychological testing to ascertain functioning and facilitate cognitive rehabilitation. She has done assessments on dementia, AIDS-related cognitive impairments, candidacy for surgical intervention in intractable epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, learning disabilities, and ADHD.

Dr. Yong is fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia with a working knowledge of Penang Hokkien and Cantonese.
