Dr Leow is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Eye Surgeon who also has the expertise of an optometrist. He had his basic education in Malaysia and then qualified as an optometrist in Glasgow, Scotland. He went on to acquire a postgraduate diploma in optometry after which he received his Membership in Optometry. Dr Leow studied Medicine at the Cork University College, Ireland, following which he had six years of training in Ophthalmology. After obtaining his Fellowship in Ophthalmology from the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow, he trained under the eminent Professor P.E. Cleary in vitreo-retinal surgery at the Cork University Hospital.
Dr Leow handles vitreo-retinal cases and is proficient in the latest techniques in cataract surgery phacoemulsification. His previous training in optometry enables him to determine refractive disorders in children.
Dr Leow is fluent in English, Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka and Hokkien. He has the ability to establish good rapport even with his paediatric patients. He is proficient in handling diabetic complications of the eye and glaucoma cases.
In his free time Dr Leow enjoys reading, and spending time with his two children.
