Dr Edward Nathan is our resident Public Health Doctor specialising in Preventive Care. He completed his primary and secondary education at St Xavier's Institution and then began his medical education at Christian Medical College in Vellore, India.
He began his medical career as an intern at Hospital USM, Kubang Kerian in 1993. Upon transferring to Sabah, he worked MO in Hospital Kota Marudu and after that in the Surgical and Orthopedic Departments of Queen Elisabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
In 1997, he began working in the Penang Adventist Hospital and from 2000 he has been with the Wellness Centre, as he believes that Preventive Medicine is an important and integral part of making man whole and well.
To further his expertise in the field of Preventive Medicine, Dr Edward became a student at Loma Linda University, California, USA, completing his MPH in 2006 and is in the process of completing his DrPH in Preventive Care from the same university
His special interest in Preventive Medicine focuses on health risk assessment and corporate wellness as well as helping those who want to quit the smoking habit. He is also involved in conducting research and holding preventive care classes like stress management, exercise and nutrition and behavioral change.
Dr Edward speaks English, Malay and Hokkien. He is active in sports and likes outdoor activities, such as snorkeling, climbing hills and mountains and camping. He plays badminton and football and he enjoys childhood hobbies like airplane modeling and playing table soccer.
