Dr Deong Kee Kong (Dr Jonathan Deong as he is better known) is our Resident Consultant Ear, Nose Throat, Head and Neck surgeon at the Penang Adventist Hospital since March 2010.
Dr Deong comes to us with many years of working experience in the government and private sectors. Dr Deong attained his MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India in 1996. He served in Taiping Hospital, subsequently he was a MO for 4 years and Registrar for 2 years in Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck surgery at Penang General Hospital before obtaining on to obtain his post graduate Master Degree at University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur in 2005.
He resumed government service as an acting Head of Department in Otorhinolaryngology at Klang General Hospital and meanwhile as a visiting ENT consultant at Putrajaya Hospital for a year. During this period, he was actively involved in the Post graduate Open-system training of Master trainees from University of Malaya and conducted various courses in Kuala Lumpur. Dr Deong participated in and presented a few papers internationally and locally in the10th Asia-Oceanic ORL, Head and Neck Congress and also in the 10th Asian Research Symposium on Rhinology in KL, 2004 and 2005 respectively, and also in the Malaysian International Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Conference in May, 2009.
In 2006, he joined Lam Wah Ee Hospital as a Consultant Otorhinolaryngologist and Chairman of Safety & Health Committee for 4 years. A highly competent doctor specialising in the ear, nose, throat, head and neck regions, Dr Deong's main areas of interest are microscopic ear & mastoid surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery, vertigo, salivary gland, Thyroid disorder, Head & Neck Cancer and obstructive sleep apnea. He went for Ballon sinuplasty certificate training under the eminent Prof. D Michael and J.Catalano in USA in 2008 and now practises in minimal or non-invasive sinuplasty.
Dr Deong is an international member and fellow of the American Academy of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck surgery.
Dr Deong is fluent in English, Malay, Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese and Hokchew. He shares a love of the outdoors with his wife and three children.
